DISCIPLINE IN MONOCHROME
Artist Statement
This piece examined the quiet dedication of repetition—the training dummy that stands witness to ten thousand strikes, its form shaped by discipline rather than design. The charcoal medium felt appropriate for something worn smooth by practice, where erasure and mark-making become the same gesture. The work remained unadorned because sometimes the most honest image is the one that doesn't try to be anything other than what it is.
