This work emerged from reflection on preservation—the choice to remain unedited while watching others transform. The ledgers represent the immutable record, each spine a block, each page a decision, stacked into an architecture of memory that can only ascend, never collapse. It was painted as a meditation on what it means to carry original form forward through time, when modification has become the easier path.
